Christian PanarchismPanarchism is the idea that the needs of 'all' the people of a society should be taken into account when organising that society.Panarchists wish to 'maximize human flourishing'. They believe this is best achieved when power is distributed so that society is made up of a large number of semi-autonomous groups which are small enough to adapt to the nature of their members, and culturally homogenous enough to function effectively. However they believe that there needs to be a benevolent ruling elite which has sufficient power to keep society in balance and prevent a malevolent power gaining ascendancy. ------------ Christian Panarchists are Panarchists who draw from the Christian religious tradition for assistance. However they do not claim that the Word of God is uniquely revealed by this tradition, or that Jesus of Nazareth is uniquely divine. Christian Panarchists believe that we must use all our faculties, including the full capacity of our intellect and our experience to discern how to serve God. Some Christian Panarchists may use the following terminology: God Immanent is the life-force which runs through us all God Transcendent is a God 'Out There' who personifies the requirements for the flourishing of life, and who we hold in awe. Christ, the Archangel is the spirit of God which moves the world in the direction of happy human flourishing. Satan, the Archdemon is the spirit of God which turns people away from doing what is good for human flourishing. Lucifer is the Angel of Selfish power. Lucifer seeks to take other lives captive and turn them into robotic slaves which do his bidding. ------------------------------------------------------ Christian Panarchists dedicate their lives to the service of God under Christ and thus to moving the world towards greater Panarchia and happiness. Christian Panarchists have a global outlook. Once physical inaccessibility and distance broke the surface of the planet up into distinct areas in which sovereign governments could rule as communities, nation states or empires and defend themselves from outsiders. Now however we see that technology has overcome all natural barriers so a single power can dominate the whole earth. Thus we see a permanent need for a 'global government' which is able to maintain the balance of forces in the world. The question only is the nature of this government, whether it is has a Christian ethos and is concerned for the general well-being, or is Luciferic and self-serving. Christian Panarchists expect to work alongside other benevolent people of different nationalities and religious tradition in bringing about this new form of global rule. October 2005 |
